Masasana
Masasana was named in 2011 in recognition of Johan Sithole, who served the Kruger National Park (KNP) for 35 years in both the Conservation and Scientific Services departments until his retirement. Masasana is Tsonga and means: “One can always make a plan”.
Even though Masasana was only first recorded in 2006, the sightings in November 2009 and May 2010 by Dr. Ian Whyte were promising and Masasana became an official candidate for the Emerging Tuskers Competition (a project of the Kruger National Park, which records the most remarkable emerging tuskers).
